Features and advantages
Cost-effective re-roofing
Starflex Mono can be applied directly over existing membranes — bituminous, PVC, TPO, and others — without removal. Clean, prime if required, and apply. No need to open up the roof or disturb the existing structure.
Single-component — no mixing
Ready to use straight from the pail. Moisture curing means no catalyst, no mixing ratio errors, and no wasted product. Simplifies preparation and reduces the risk of application failures on site.
Excellent adhesion to most substrates
Bonds directly to concrete, bituminous membranes, PVC, metal, and tiles — in many cases without a primer. Where a primer is recommended, PRIMER 0130 R is available from Sealco.
Cold applied — no flame, no heat
Unlike torch-on membranes, Starflex Mono is cold applied and flame-free. This makes it safer on occupied buildings, over insulation layers, and in confined or sensitive environments where open flame is a risk.
High elasticity and crack bridging
The elastic polyurethane formulation accommodates structural movement and bridges cracks in the substrate. Maintains flexibility at low temperatures, making it suitable for New Zealand's varied climate conditions.
Certified up to 25-year durability
CE certified to EN 1504 and ETAG 005. Holds UNI 14891 approval and BroofT4 fire rating on cement substrates. System durability certified up to 25 years. The Italian manufacturer has been manufacturing waterproofing membranes in Italy since 1955.

Installation Steps
The standard reinforced system for roofs and terraces. Always use Startex reinforcement fabric for full waterproofing performance. For detailed method statements refer to the brochure.
1
Substrate preparation
Starflex Mono can be applied directly over existing membranes — bituminous, PVC, TPO, and others — without removal. Clean, prime if required, and apply. No need to open up the roof or disturb the existing structure.
2
Primer application
Apply PRIMER 0130 R (universal single-component rapid primer) to the existing substrate. Coverage approximately 100–200 g/m² depending on porosity. Wait for overcoating time (minimum 60 minutes).
3
First coat of Starflex Mono
Apply first coat of Starflex Mono liquid membrane at a minimum of 0.7 kg/m². Lay STARTEX NW non-woven fabric onto the wet coat and press with an unloaded roller to embed fully.
4
Second coat
Apply second coat of Starflex Mono liquid membrane at a minimum of 0.7 kg/m². Allow to cure.
5
Final coat
Apply a final coat of Starflex Mono at a minimum of 0.6 kg/m². Minimum total membrane consumption: 2.0 kg/m² (without finish coat).
6
Protective finish (recommended)
Apply an aliphatic polyurethane UV-protective finish coat (STARFLEX MONO TOP or POLISTAR line) at 150–400 g/m² for UV protection and colour. Contact Sealco to discuss finish options.
